The 42km2 Couflens exploration licence in the Pyrenees region includes the historical Salau mine, one of the world’s highest grade tungsten mines when it operated from 1971 to 1986.
During this time, it is recorded to have produced about 930,000t at 1.5% tungsten trioxide, or around 13,950t of WO3 in concentrate with grades of up to 2.5% noted in its latter years.
Apollo Minerals (ASX:AON) surged 200% on the news on Tuesday, a high of almost two years, and another 30% to 3.9c in early trading today.
